Construction

Ard Rí is worked up using rows of short Tunisian crochet “simple stitches” that are layered one on top of the other to build up the fabric. Short rows are used to create the half-circle and some of the colourwork elements.
The colourwork itself is created by carrying both strands along as each row is crocheted.

This pattern comes with easy-to-follow charts, text instruction and a series of helpful technique videos.

I so loved making this shawl. I used the yarn that Aoibhe Ni used in the printed instructions and it’s wonderful! I hated to reach the end because I enjoyed the rhythm and relaxation I felt when I sat down to work on it. But it’s finished, awaiting blocking now. Can’t say enough wonderful about it!
