Description
This pattern uses Tunisian crochet techniques and was designed to be made with a regular, short crochet hook.
Yarn used in sample:
Coolree Silkpaca Sport
Alpaca 80%, Silk 20%)
“Hokusai’s Wave” – 1 skeins (260 m)
Head Circumference: 21″, 22″ & 23″
Hook: 5.5 mm (I Hook)
Construction:
Blue Belle starts with the head band. By making a string of foundation UK dc/US sc sts you get a stretchy base upon which to work the rest of the hat.
Once complete, the band proper is crocheted in Tunisian Knit Stitch. TKS is elastic and thick, so it makes a great hatband fabric.
After that, it’s a case of working sideways with Tunisian Simple Stitch and a simple, repeating lace pattern to make the crown.
Seam, gather, and you’re done!
This pattern comes with easy-to-follow charts and text instruction and links to helpful technique videos.
The pattern pdf will be available to download immediately after purchase.

I don’t see on my pattern the instructions for adding the Tunisian knit stitch band.

Hi, Teresa!
For the Blue Belle hat, the TKS hat band is made at the same time as the TSS crown.
You’ll notice on the chart that the lower half uses a symbol showing that that section is worked in TKS, unlike the upper end of each column with is in TSS with lace details.
If you need instructions for working a TKS, you’ll find that info on page 2 of the pattern text, too.
