Honeymeade Shawl

5.00

A great BEGINNER PATTERN, Honeymeade features a simple-to-learn lace pattern that flows back and forth to create a gentle, feathery look.

Did you know, this shawl pattern has been creatively employed by several makers as a wedding veil on their big days!

The wingspan of this shawl is 128 cm / 50.5 inches .

Description

This pattern uses Tunisian crochet techniques and was designed to be made with a regular, short crochet hook.

Yarn used in sample:
Colormart Cashmere 4-ply
(Cashmere 100% – 16 wpi)
“Semolina” – 1 cone (1,200 m)

Wingspan: 128 cm / 50.5 inches
Hook: 5 mm (H Hook)

Construction:
Honeymeade begins in the centre of the straight edge with a Magic Loop into which your first row of Tunisian Crochet is worked. Pulling the Magic Loop closed turns this row into a little semi-circle. The semi-circle then grows row upon row with regular increases.

The lace panels are worked similarly, with increases built into them to ensure your shawl stays curved and continues to grow.

As an added detail, the edge of your shawl is worked with a series of cheerful little picots which double as handles when it comes time to block.
